Corfu Holiday Guide
Green hills, hidden coves, waterside tavernas… and a Greek island that somehow makes you slow down.
Why Corfu?
Corfu feels a little different from many of the Greek islands.
It’s wonderfully green, with olive-covered hillsides, beautiful bays and villages tucked into the landscape. Then there’s Corfu Town — elegant, historic and full of narrow streets, little squares, cafés and Venetian character.
Around the coast you'll find everything from lively resorts to peaceful coves and small waterfront villages where lunch can easily turn into an entire afternoon.
It’s an island that rewards exploring, but it's equally good at persuading you to do absolutely nothing for a while.
What we’d make time for
Corfu Old Town
Lose the map for a while and wander. The narrow streets, colourful buildings, little shops and café-filled squares are part of the pleasure.
Paleokastritsa
One of Corfu's best-known coastal areas, with dramatic green hills surrounding beautiful blue bays.
A boat day
Some of the island's prettiest coves and stretches of coastline are best appreciated from the water.
The smaller villages
Leave the main resorts behind for a few hours and discover another side of Corfu among traditional villages, olive groves and local tavernas.
A long Greek lunch
Fresh seafood, Greek salad, warm bread and something cold to drink beside the water. No complicated itinerary required.
Sunset on the west coast
Find somewhere overlooking the Ionian Sea, order a drink and stay until the sun disappears.
Who would we recommend Corfu to?
Corfu is particularly good for couples and families who want a Greek island holiday with more than just a beach and hotel.
It suits travellers who enjoy hiring a car or taking a boat and discovering somewhere new, but it also works perfectly well if your idea of a good holiday involves a beautiful bay, a favourite taverna and nowhere particularly urgent to be.
There's enough variety around the island to make Corfu work for very different styles of holiday.

Where we’d stay
Choosing where to stay in Corfu matters.
Corfu Town, the lively resorts, peaceful villages and quieter stretches of coastline can provide very different holidays, so the best choice isn't necessarily the same for everyone.
We’re putting together our shortlist of Corfu hotels and places we’d genuinely consider staying ourselves.
Once our travel partnerships are in place, we’ll add our favourites here — including what we like about them, the area they're in and who we think each one would suit.
